New national study: The kids are not alright
Prominent group of Canadians team up with a new non-profit, Children First Canada, to influence the government to drive positive change for our children

TORONTO, November 9, 2016 – Canadians are living under a misconception: that the kids are alright. On November 16, a new landmark report from the Angus Reid Institute and Children First Canada, investigates the state of our children’s wellbeing and the results are not good.

Did you know: While Canada is the fifth most prosperous nation in the world, we are ranked only 17th out of 29 affluent nations for children’s wellbeing based on a global index by UNICEF and drop to the bottom ranks for children’s health and safety.

Results from the study by the Angus Reid Institute and Children First Canada will be released and reveal an alarming picture of Canada’s children with respect to poverty, mental health and suicide, and overall health and safety including obesity and injury rates.

On November 16 you are invited to join the official launch of Children First Canada, a new non-profit with a bold and ambitious vision to make Canada a world-leading country where all our kids thrive. Children First Canada is harnessing the strength of many individuals and organizations who share in the dedication to improve the lives of our country’s children – committed partners including children’s charities and hospitals, research centres, corporations, community leaders, and children themselves.
