Honouring Our Commitment to Truth and Reconciliation

Children First Canada is a national organization with staff, volunteers, and youth participants from coast to coast to coast. Our head office is located in Calgary, Alberta, on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Tsuut’ina, the Stoney Nakoda Nations (Chiniki, Bearspaw, Goodstoney), the Otipemisiwak Métis Government (Districts 5 and 6), and all people who make their homes in the Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta.

In the spirit of reconciliation, we acknowledge that we live, work, and play on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples.

We affirm the spirit that we are all Treaty people, honouring the sovereignty, self-determination, and enduring relationships of Indigenous Nations.

At Children First Canada, we believe that learning about the traditional territories of Indigenous peoples is just one step on the path toward reconciliation. An essential part of our mission is to engage children and youth in learning about the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action, inspiring them to take meaningful, youth-led actions and encouraging them to hold our government accountable.

As a movement committed to making Canada the best place for children to grow up, we recognize the need for collective efforts to acknowledge and address the injustices – both past and present – that Indigenous peoples face. We thank you for joining us on this important journey of reconciliation, working together alongside children and youth to create a more just and equitable future for all.
