Cailyn Sinclair

Vancouver, British Columbia

Cailyn Sinclair, lives in Vancouver, British Columbia, and is an advocate and inspiration for young people living with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). Since her diagnosis at age four, she has demonstrated remarkable resilience and a commitment to ensuring that her condition does not define her potential. Cailyn is a leader both on and off the sports field/court, coaching young soccer players and serving as a role model for her peers as team captain. Her advocacy work extends to the political arena, where she has lobbied Members of Parliament in Ottawa and the Federal Health Minister for increased funding for T1D research. She uses her personal experience to educate her classmates about T1D and participates in events like Breakthrough T1D Walk and Diabetes Canada’s Pump Couture fashion show, which aims to destigmatize diabetes medical devices. Cailyn’s efforts have made a measurable impact, raising almost $120,000 over the past 8 years for T1D research and advocating for automated insulin delivery system coverage in her home province. As a Breakthrough T1D and Dexcom Ambassador, she is a force for change, disrupting the status quo and creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for all young Canadians.
